About
Les Hughes is senior pastor at Westwood. In December of 2000, he came to Westwood from Mississippi College where he served as Chairman of the Department of Christian Studies and Philosophy. Although a native of Kentucky, he has spent much of his life in Mississippi.
He received an undergraduate degree from Mississippi College as well as an MDiv and PhD in Greek and New Testament Studies from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has over 20 years of pastoral experience and has served churches in Mississippi and Alabama.
In addition to his preaching and teaching ministry, Les ministers to others through writing. He and his wife, Page, have written several devotional books, including a book of devotions for families and a Christmas Advent devotion book. In his book, The Sound of God’s Applause: Living a Life That Glorifies the Father, Les deals with a basic human need: approval. He encourages readers to search for the approval of God rather than others.
Les has been married to his wife, Page, since 1984. Page is a gifted speaker and author in her own right. Les and Page also minister through their personal ministry, Anchor Deep Ministries. They have four children: Kyle, Caleb, Luke, and Gene’. In his free time, Les enjoys hunting, golf, and time with the family.
